New Injection Moulded Blades arriving Mar '08
19 Feb 2008
Using the unique multi-pitch blade hub systems, we have invested heavily in the tooling required to manufacture large 3m diameter rotors using injection moulding techniques. This will drastically reduce the overall cost of turbine production, while giving massive flexibility in the design of our future turbines...

Wind Turbine Components and Systems

Wind Turbines & Components

Our "miniwind" range of domestic wind turbines have been developed specifically to cope with the extreme conditions often associated with wind power.  From off-grid battery-based systems to fully grid-tied turbines, we offer our customers, and industry, an extensive and flexible range of products.  If you don't find what you're looking for on our website, please email or call with your requirements.  If you wish to develop your own range of wind turbines using our components, please ask about our design & development service.

MiniWind 1100-24 & MiniWind 1100-48 Battery Charging Turbines

Supplied with our 1.8m rotors, and variable blade angles, these turbines can be adjusted by the user to suit both low and high wind speed sites. These Downwind machines are our "entry level" turbines, and are suitable for battery charging. The unique ability of all of our turbines to be "best matched" to each installation site gives our turbines the flexibility that our customers have requested. These rugged turbines are built to last, using high quality components, that have been chosen specifically for the task. For low wind sites, or inland locations, these turbines will provide a long lasting, reliable battery charging source. The maximum power output is limited by both the number of blades and the PM Generator's own configuration. A charge controller should be used when charging battery banks of under 200Ahr. Large capacity banks will not generally require the use of a charge controller. For power curves and product manuals see below...Note, your turbine should not be operated in dangerously high wind conditions, and we suggest that all miniwind turbines are automatically or manually disabled in winds consistently above 15m/s.  Blade angles can be altered to increase this speed to much higher levels, but please consult us on this before fitting and operating your turbine.

MiniWind 2200-24, MiniWind 2200-48 & MiniWind 2200-300 (Grid Tie System)

Supplied with our 1.8m rotors, and variable blade angles, these turbines can be adjusted by the user to suit both low and high wind speed sites. These Downwind machines are our "premium level" turbines, and are suitable for battery charging and Grid-Tie connections. The unique ability of all of our turbines to be "best matched" to each installation site gives our turbines the flexibility that our customers have requested. These rugged turbines are built to last, using high quality components, that have been chosen specifically for the task. For high wind sites, or coastal locations, these turbines will provide a long lasting, reliable power source. Incorporating our rugged RC2200 PM Generators, these turbine can operate at much higher wind speeds than the 1100 range, making them ideal for use on exposed sites...We now supply a fully automated controller for use with our Grid-Tied Turbines, when used with the WindyBoy 2500W Inverter. These are available for £595 + p&p

WindyBoy 2500 Grid Tie Inverter & Power Controller

Manufacturerd by SMA, Germany, these inverters have stood the test of time in applications across the world. We've combined their inverter expertise with our MiniWind 2200-300 Grid Tie Turbine to create a robust and formidable power generation system. In order to protect these inverters from Over-Voltage and other power related issues, we've developed our own high-spec power controller for use with them. This controller monitors the turbine's performance, temperature and output, shutting it down in conditions of fault, over-speed or over-temperature. This allows the turbine to be operated safely when unattended, and will bring the turbine to a halt if windspeeds become dangerously high. It should be noted that the WindyBoy Inverter cannot be "user programmed" and so we supply it with its characteristics "preset" into its firmware. We tell you this because we've had several people buying inverters off the web, or ebay, and wondering why they won't work properly with their turbine.

MiniWind Hydraulic Tower

Manufactured specifically for the entire MiniWind range of turbines, these towers are extremely well built and are produced to a very high standard, giving years of maintenance free use. Constructed in 5 sections, these towers consist of a Pedestal Base, Lower, Mid & Upper tower sections, and a removable top spigot piece to adapt to the MiniWind Yaw tube. The tower is raised and lowered by the use of a Hydraulic Ram and Compressor (sold separately form the tower kit) and can be used by both installers and the DIY enthusiast. The concrete base required to support this tower is 1m x 1m x 1.2m deep and uses 40 Newton concrete mix. We are able to supply this tower for any turbine up to 3m in diameter. All we require to know is the type of turbine, and type of fitting required at the tower top to suit your turbine. These towers will make your complete system look both professional and robust, while the hydraulic actuator allows you to raise and lower the tower with safety and ease.

MiniWind Hydraulic Power Unit + Ram

Used with our unique Hydraulic Sectional Towers, these pumps provide an easy way to raise and lower your turbine. Simply fit the 3000psi Ram to the tower, connect the ram to the pump via the quick release connectors supplied, loosen the tower securing bolts and lower the tower. Operated by simply pushing a simple valve, these pumps take the hard work out of lowering the entire weight of the tower and turbine. Fitted with "hose burst" valves and other safety features to provide a safe and reliable way to service your turbine.
